About Us

Maine Hardware opened its doors back in 1935 on Congress Street as a plumbing and electrical wholesaler. In 1978, we moved to our current location and today, Maine Hardware occupies over 37,000 square feet on 2 floors at Union Station Plaza on St. John Street.

During the 1980's, Maine Hardware became more consumer and retail oriented and twice expanded the store in the 1990's. In the mid 90's, Maine Hardware developed their commercial and industrial divisions and now has two outside and two inside salespeople.

We are dedicated to being "Just Big Enough" to give you the top quality, professional service you've come to expect from Maine Hardware, and the depth of selection and competitve prices of the big stores without the inconvenience.

You are going to find a clean, organized store with rows of tall counters, stuffed with everything you need and pallets of products packaged in bulk. We're more than just a neighborhood hardware store...but we're just as convenient to get to...and get in out out of.
